Headed to Haiti

Friends, family, and foreign folks. I’m shipping off June 2 for Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, my new home for a year!

Doing my Rutgers grad school fieldwork with Fonkoze, an awesome microfinance organization in Haiti. They do a ton of cool stuff, but mainly focus on giving small loans to poor women to help them jumpstart their businesses. Combine this with education programs and their understanding of solidarity, and you’ve got yourself a pretty cool gig. I’ll specifically be working on a micro-health insurance program that they are trying to start, along with making sure clients’ loans are safe when hurricanes hit.

To keep you up to date on my happenings, I’ll be using this blog along with my Facebook page and, to a lesser extent, my Twitter account. I’ll throw some pics up here, but most will probably be in some facebook albums (which I'll post links for).

If you want on to be notified when this blog is updated or if you want to get on my email list, fill out the form on the right side.

I’ll miss you all, but I gotta go have the time of my life…I’m sure you’ll understand.

Tyler
